Argentina: Lifting of Import, Export Taxes Spurs Price Increases

One of Argentine president Mauricio Macri's first acts was to lift import and export taxes. The measure was presented as a move to boost production, but an immediate effect was an increase in consumer prices. A major cause for concern is Macri's commitment to economic policies that favor large corporations, especially transnationals, and a free-floating exchange rate.
