Mexico: Dissident Teachers Charge Gov't With Repression

Mexico's combative and dissident teachers movement, the National Teachers Coordinating Committee (CNTE), have intensified their protests to demand the release of 30 leaders imprisoned by authorities and the cancellation of standardized evaluation exams. The CNTE says teachers were denied input into education reforms and authorities are refusing a dialogue. Public Education Minister Aurelio Nuño argues that the reforms are aimed at making education more competitive. Clayton Conn reports from Mexico City. teleSUR
