Leonardo DiCaprio opens up about three times he nearly died

Leonardo DiCaprio considers himself lucky to be alive. DiCaprio's first brush with death came during a 2006 diving expedition in South Africa, when a Great White shark jumped into his cage. Another time, while travelling by plane, "I was sitting there looking out at the wing, and the entire wing exploded in a fireball," he said, calling the explosion and subsequent emergency landing a "surreal experience." The "Wolf of Wall Street" star also said he nearly died during a tandem skydive when his parachute and backup chute failed to open. "So after you see your whole life flash in front of your eyes - twice - he says, 'Oh, your legs are going to get broken too.'" DiCaprio, 41, shared his near-death experiences while discussing his starring role in "The Revenant," which has earned him both Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations.
