Venezuela: Congress in the Streets Aims to Foster Debate

President Nicolas Maduro says that he is reshuffling his cabinet in an effort to improve and deepen the Bolivarian Revolution. When the Parliament sits again in January with a 2/3 majority of opposition forces, the right wing will have the power to remove the cabinet, so it seems that this an attempt to preempt their action. The special congress being held in the streets is part of Maduro’s effort to foster debate, reflection and action. The vote against the government was apparently a vote against inflation and food shortages for which people held the government responsible, reports teleSur correspondent Isobel Finbow from Caracas .
