Brooklyn man beats and fatally stabs girlfriend before his wife comes home

NEW YORK — A Brooklyn man allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death before his wife returned home on Saturday afternoon.
The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Daniel Romain. Romain reportedly got into an argument with his girlfriend Tisa Kelly, 46, who wanted to leave his apartment on 649 East 95th Street in East Flatbush before his wife returned, the New York Times reported.
The argument then somehow escalated into a fight. Romain's neighbours claim that a radio was turned up to high volume to cover up the sound of the commotion, the New York Post reported.
According to the New York Times, police were alerted of a family dispute by Romain's stepfather, who was also at the house at the time of the incident.
When police arrived, they found Kelly tied up in Romain's shower with stab wounds in her neck, torso and back. Kelly later died at a hospital. Romain attempted to flee through the back door, but was arrested by police after a brief foot chase, the New York Times reported.
Romain has been jailed at New York State prison twice in the past. In addition to charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the stabbing case, he also faces the charge of an attempted murder following an April shooting outside an East New York, Brooklyn house party.
