  • vor 16 Jahren
Defined by BMW as the first "Sports Activity Coupe", Adrian van Hooydonk explains how the Concept X6 combines an elegant and dynamically flowing roofline with the features so typical of a BMW X car. The close and direct link of this concept combining the new Sports Activity Coupe with innovative BMW ActiveHybrid technology ensures an authentic match of design and technology in every respect. Adrian van Hooydonk makes a case in point for form follows function: the rear underfloor panel which moves out when required and covers the tailpipes while driving on electric power only. Same applies for the engine compartment which comes with a powerful curvature at the top and a striking BMW powerdome that marks the hybrid components in the engine bay. An innovative vehicle concept and equally innovative drivetrain technology are now coming together in a unique car the world has never seen before: the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid is the world’s first Sports Activity Coupe to feature a special concept of hybrid drive likewise never seen before. Introducing the ActiveHybrid technology, BMW is taking the next step in the ongoing reduction of fuel consumption and emissions. BMW ActiveHybrid is based on a modular concept following the strategy of “Best of Hybrid“ to integrate the most appropriate, optimum components in a form that is true to the values of BMW. The BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid, the BMW in the world of hybrid cars, can be driven on electric power only, on the combustion engine alone, or with a combination of both power units. BMW ActiveHybrid is far superior to conventional hybrid vehicles in terms of driving dynamics. The fuel consumption and emission ratings of the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid are up to 20 per cent better than on a comparable car with conventional drivetrain technology.
