Report: More than 50 U.S. citizens arrested this year for allegedly supporting Islamic State

More than 50 U.S. citizens have been arrested in 2015 for having alleged ties to the Islamic State extremist group - the most domestic terrorism arrests in a single year since 2001.
Researchers at George Washington University released a study Tuesday - titled ISIS in America: From Retweets to Raqqa - detailing the typical demographic profile of an ISIS recruit from the United States and how ISIS mobilizes recruits through social media.
About 86 percent of U.S. citizens arrested for trying to aid the Islamic State or travel to the Middle East to fight for the deadly extremist group are male, according to the report.
The vast majority of those arrested on terrorism charges related to ISIS are U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
And, roughly 73 percent of those arrested were not involved in plotting domestic terrorist attacks.
