NASA Image Shows Massive Expanse Of Chinese Smog From Space
  • 8 years ago
NASA released satellite imagery showing widespread air pollution covering eastern China on November 30th.

It's been a hazy Chinese winter.
As world leaders met in Paris to discuss climate change, eastern China fell victim to the worst air pollution of the year.
A satellite image released by NASA shows the view of the smog from space.
According to the agency, "The brightest areas are clouds or fog, which have tinges of gray or yellow because of the air pollution. Other cloud-free areas have a pall of gray haze that mostly blots out the cities below. The haze extended southwest from Beijing for hundreds of kilometers and was particularly dense in low-lying areas in the Guanzhong Plain."
