UK parliament in 10-hour debate over whether to bomb ISIS in Syria

British lawmakers will vote Wednesday whether or not to launch airstrikes in Syria against the Islamic State (ISIS) after a 10-hour debate in the House of Commons.The UK is currently engaged in airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq but the vote would give the government a mandate to join the United States, France and Russia in the campaign against targets in Syria.Prime Minister David Cameron argued that expanding the airstrikes would strengthen Britain's security by degrading the ISIS forces responsible for recent attacks in Paris, Beirut and elsewhere."And my argument today is that we should not wait any longer before doing so. We should answer the call from our allies. The action we propose to take is legal, it is necessary, and it is the right thing to do to keep our country safe," Cameron told the House of Commons.
