Colombia: Government Rejects FARC Proposal for Peace Zones

The government has rejected the FARC proposal to create special peace territories and to make certain security guarantees including the demilitarization of certain guerrilla zones. They said that security is an issue that has more to do with the police than military forces and that policing can take place without the presence of the armed forces. They also asked that the FARC be recognized as a political organization. teleSUR
