As of early this morning, the Tigers were swimming in the starting pitching waters.
Now, they have caught the first big fish of the baseball off-season.
The team has agreed to terms with right-handed starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann on a five-year, $110 million contract, pending a physical, according to a person with knowledge of the contract who spoke to USA TODAY Sports' Bob Nightengale.
Zimmermann, 29, posted a 3.66 ERA this past season with the Nationals, striking out 164 patters in 201 2/3 innings.
