Colombia: Indigenous Movements Denounce Gov't Repression
  • 8 years ago
Thousands of members of Colombia's indigenous communities took to the streets of Bogota on Wednesday to demand the release of imprisoned leader Feliciano Valencia and denounce government moves to criminalize their struggles. Indigenous leaders said they support the peace talks underway in Havana but insist that political and social problems, many of a structural nature, must also be addressed. Further mobilizations are planned for next year. Natalia Margarita reports from Bogota. teleSUR
