Turkey had been warning Russia of refraining from violating its airspace but the persistent Russian did not pay heed. On November 24, 2015 two Russian SU-24s continued to play hide and seek while Turkish Interceptors tried to warn them. Their warnings went unheeded so they shot down one of the intruding Russian aircraft.
Putin's reaction was very violent and Russo-Turk relations took a nose dive. The tension increased as Russia positioned a Naval Cruiser with air defence systems. Hopefully good sense will prevail and the situation will not spiral out of control.
