Deranged man dies after taking a fatal strike to the head from a skateboard

SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA — A California man has died after he was fatally struck with a skateboard. Reports say witnesses claim the man, who appeared to be under the influence of something, harassed customers outside a Santa Ana Starbucks before a man inside the store struck him in the head with a skateboard.
The unnamed man, said to be in his 50s, was banging on and punching at the store's window, frightening many patrons at the coffee shop near South Bristol St. and West MacArthur Boulevard.
The individual then entered the store and focused his attention on an unidentified 20-year-old man, who had a skateboard. He spoke aggressively to the skateboarder before witnesses say he lunged towards the younger man in a threatening way.
The young man quickly stood up, grabbed his skateboard, and brought it down hard against the individual's head. The young man later said he believed the man was trying to attack him.
The man who was acting erratically later died from injuries sustained from the skateboard. California police are still investigating, but witnesses are claiming the young man's actions appeared to be a case of self-defense.
