NASA has released images showing the first detailed views of the poles of Ceres.

Humanity has its first detailed views of the poles of Ceres. 
Each pole looks sponge-like in its own right—full of grooves, pockmarks and indentations—and both give the appearance of a strange and alien geography swirling towards the center.
The north pole appears a bit brighter and the south pole looks to be black because it's been drenched in shade since humans made contact.
