Defence & Diplomacy: Review of the Syrian Situation

The Syrian situation has worsened with the ISIL becoming more violent. Russia's incursion by targeting the ISIL through air attacks and missiles has helped to some extent but US-Russian rivalry is an impediment. The US and Russians must join forces to eliminate the ISIL. Turkey has borne the brunt of the refugees seeking asylum from the civil war in Syria. The insistence of the US on removing Bashar ul Assad must be softened till the ISIL can be defeated otherwise there appears to be a worsening situation, where an emboldened ISIL will target Europe and later the US. Russian passenger liner has already been destroyed by a crude bomb and more attacks are expected.
