Woman gets Middle Easterner kicked off plane for 'suspicious activity', watching news with ISIS imagery

BALTIMORE — Four Middle Eastern passengers removed from a taxiing aircraft after one of the men was reported for "suspicious activity" — he was watching the news on his phone.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, is asking Spirit Airlines to apologize for how they handled a report of suspicious activity.

A female passenger thought she spotted a man sitting next to her watching an ISIS video. While the plane was still taxiing, the woman stood up and rushed to the back of the plane.

She reported the "suspicious activity," which led to the captain returning the plane to the boarding gate. The suspicious activity turned out to be nothing more than the Middle Eastern dude watching a news report.

Police were called to escort the man, along with three other people of Middle Eastern descent, off the plane. The four passengers were detained and released without charges.

Spirit Airlines Flight 969 eventually departed for Chicago three hours behind schedule.
