Peru: President Unresponsive to High Malnutrition Rates

Peru has one of the highest rates of malnutrition in Latin America, which is a major problem for mothers struggling to feed their children. On Monday a Forum of the Parliamentary Front Against Hunger in Lima addressed the issue. Peru’s Congress has approved many of the Forum’s recommendations, but so far President Ollanta Humala has not signed the measures. This is due to pressure from business lobbyists, say some congressmen. Last week Congress approved a new draft to promote food security, but proponents fear that the President will continue to stall the process. Rael Mora reports from a for teleSUR
