Refugees keep arriving in Germany only to end up in container shelters and converted airplane hangars. Communities are struggling to cope. Berlin is desperately looking for vacant accommodation.
Taking Berlin as an example, we look at how German cities are attempting to house the refugees. Exact figures for the number of refugees currently in the capital are unavailable, but approximately 40,000 had been registered in the German capital by late October. What procedures do the refugees go through? How are they catered for? Milto Schmidt took a camera team to a makeshift shelter in a gymnasium. He accompanies one district manager on her daily rounds.
