WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS — The U.S. Army confirmed that more than a dozen weapons, including six M4 assault rifles and ten handguns, were stolen from an Army Reserve center in Worcester, Massachusetts on Saturday night.

Both the FBI and local police are investigating the break-in at the Lincoln Stoddard Army Reserve Center on Lake Avenue.

"An unidentified male subject is wanted in connection with the theft of a total of 16 weapons," said Worcester City Manager Edward M. Augustus Jr.

Police are looking for a light-skinned man between 5'7" - 5'10" with a stocky build. He was wearing a white t-shirt and a dark colored vest.

Authorities are also on the lookout for a newer model dark colored BMW hatchback with sport rims.

The break-in occurred between the hours of 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday, according to the city manager.

Reports say the suspect went in through the roof and once inside cut a hole in the roof of the vault. The alarm was disabled at the armory due to construction.

Surveillance video shows the man carefully stealing weapon after weapon over a five hour span.

The Worcester Fire Department and Worcester Police Department responded to an 8:30 a.m. Sunday call from a worker reporting smoke and signs of a break-in, Augustus said.

Lt. Col. Tad T. Fichtel said the FBI is leading the investigation and confirmed that 10 9 mm handguns and six 5.56 mm M4 rifles were stolen.

The FBI said there was no indication the weapons stolen were motivated by terrorism.
