ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — Police arrested and charged a man with kidnapping, assault, and rape after he was found at his cabin near Manley Hot Springs, Alaska with a battered woman on Sunday morning, KTVA reported.

According to authorities, the alleged victim told her sordid story, detailing how she was abused physically and sexually over the course of five weeks. She claimed that the man, Daniel Selovich, 37, picked her up at the Fairbanks airport in a U-Haul van and proceeded to punch and rape her within the span of a few hours. Then the pair checked into a motel in Fairbanks for a few days, where they had consensual sex, Associated Press reported.

Then, according to what the woman told police, they flew in a charter plane to Solevich's cabin 16 miles south of Manley Hot Springs on October 1. According to Newsminer, she said they lived in a tent for about a week while installing insulation, and the abuse continued. She told police that he kept her tied up, while he assaulted and raped her two to six times a day between September 26th and November 7th, KTVA reported.

Somehow on November 7, she managed to send a Facebook message to her friend saying she needed medical attention for chest pain and possible pneumonia, KTUU reported. Selovich is also accused of cutting the victim's neck with a serrated blade. She claimed he was in the middle of raping her when the rescue helicopter arrived at around 9:30 on Sunday morning, Newsminer reported.

According to KTVA, both the alleged victim and Selovich were taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Selovich was arrested and charged with kidnapping, two counts of fourth-degree assault, one count of third-degree assault and two counts of first-degree sexual assault. He has a prior criminal history including accusations of rape from 2004 which were dismissed according to a report from Redding Record Searchlight.
