Lady Gaga has credited acting and her new film role for helping her battle mental illness.
The singer - whose real name is Stefani Germanotta - has taken medication for depression and anxiety for several years but admitted her recent role in hit TV show American Horror Story: Hotel has been incomparable in battling her issues.
She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "I'm an actress now and that helps a lot."
"I've tried to get off my medication, but my doctor always tells me not to, that it's not safe for me.
"I've tried a lot of things but there is something about acting that has really helped.
I'm a Stefani-Gaga hybrid and I want you to know the real me."
However, creating the Emmy-winning show certainly wasn't stress-free as she was terrified she wouldn't be good enough, causing her to be physically ill.
According to newspaper, she added: "I was very nervous.
All I have is my preparation time and Jesus to save me from possibly screwing this up."
