Video catches skydiver hanging from plane at 10,000 feet and surviving

LIMA, PERU — Thanks to cameraman Maurice Mathey, the world got to witness a happy ending to a terrifying ordeal 10,000 feet in the air.

As his friend Fernando Gava was making a skydive over the capital of Peru, Gava's clothing became stuck on the airplane's exit step and he dangled 10,000 feet in the air. After close to half an hour, Gava was finally able to free himself by using a knife to cut himself loose before completing his skydive.

As he descended to earth after opening his reserve parachute, Gava's friends and onlookers rushed to his aid, but it was found that his only injury was a cut to his hand he sustained while cutting himself free.

Cameraman Maurice Mathey graciously allowed his video to be shown worldwide and now his friend's terrifying ordeal will go down in history as a definite case of defying death.
