GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA — A 20-year-old driver was killed in Los Angeles on Friday morning when his vehicle rolled during a crash which ejected his body, depositing it on a freeway sign.

The crash occurred on the southbound 5 Freeway in Glendale at around 7 a.m. after California Highway Patrol received a call about a driver of a Ford Fiesta driving recklessly.

Shortly after the call, the driver rammed into the back of another vehicle carrying three passengers. All three passengers were unscathed, but the Ford Fiesta overturned, and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from his vehicle. He landed on a freeway sign that is at least 20 feet above the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, the Los Angeles Fire Department helped patrol officers remove the body from the sign three hours after the crash, and two of the lanes on the southbound 5 remains closed for the investigation.
