NORTH WEBSTER, INDIANA — A woman was shot in the foot by her chocolate labrador dog named 'Trigger' while on a hunting trip on Saturday in North Webster, Indiana, Reuters reported.

Allie Carter, 25, from Avilla, Indiana was hunting waterfowl at the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area about 140 miles north of Indianapolis. She set her gun down with the safety off to reposition herself, and Trigger stepped on the trigger.

Carter was hit in the left foot and toes at point blank range by birdshot pellets. According to a WHAS 11 report she was treated at two hospitals before being released, and she won't face any charges.

Indiana Conservation Officer Jonathan Boyd told Reuters, "We encourage everyone to take a hunter education course before they venture out in the field."
