FUKUI, JAPAN — Hello, cat lovers. You might be pleased to know that it is now considered trendy to wear your cats.

A Japanese housewife known as Pico has designed a line of lifelike cat handbags, which have taken Japan by storm.

Based in Japan's Fukui prefecture, Pico is selling her handmade cat handbags on Yahoo! Auction. A multi-colour cat handbag is selling for 83,000 yen, or about US$700. More than 100 people are bidding for it.

Cat lovers outside Japan may be disappointed because the designer does not want to ship these handbags overseas.
