Argentina: Tight Race in November’s Runoff Elections

President Cristina Fernandez held a press conference and rally on Thursday, where she called for unity in the ruling Front for Victory coalition. She endorsed Daniel Scioli for President, emphasizing the need to continue the progress achieved in the country. The candidate who came in third, Sergio Massa, has endorsed neither of the leading candidates, but has backed some of Scioli’s positions, such as cutting income taxes. Members of Massa’s Renewal Front have said that, as Peronists, they would have a hard time backing right-wing Mauricio Macri. Laureano Ponce reports from Buenos Aires for teleSUR
