Buddy Bench Fosters Friendship At Schools

Being a kid can be tough. Especially if you are shy, making friends can be tough. 10-year-old Christian agrees and did something to help. When he was in first grade, there was a chance his family had to move to Germany. Checking out his potential school online, Christian noticed a 'buddy bench' on the playground. They didn't end up moving, and Christian knew he had to had a bench at his school.

The buddy bench is a simple idea to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground. The bench is placed on the playground and if a child is feeling lonely they go sit on the bench and then someone is encouraged to go sit with them. Since he created his first buddy bench, people have replicated this little boy's movement worldwide. On Sept. 18th, the John F Kennedy Magnet School in Port Chester, NY unveiled three buddy benches and invited Christian to tell his story.

Christian brought the first buddy bench to the U.S. and is fostering friendships one by one!
