Chile: Atacama Desert in Bloom
The driest place in the world is a sight to behold. Chile’s Atacama Desert is in bloom for the first time in 12 years following massive downpours earlier in the year linked to the “Godzilla El Niño” warming. The phenomenon known as “the flowering desert” occurs when an unusual level of rainfall reach the seeds and bulbs that have been in a latent or dormant state and causes them to germínate and flower. teleSUR
