Honduran authorities arrested José Adalid González Morales, mayor of Sulaco in the northern state of Yoro, for the ruling National Party, on charges of involvement in organized crime. He is the 10th major political figure to be arrested since President Juan Orlando Hernandez took office in January 2014. Such scandals have become common place in Honduras and penal lawyers are demanding changes in electoral legislation to prevent such figures from running for public office.
