Tour of Peace, Tour of Memory; 2016 Tour de France route unveiled

The route for the 2016 Tour de France has been announced at a ceremony in Paris.

The Grand Depart takes place at Mont-Saint-Michel on July 2.

The 103rd edition has been described as the Tour of Peace, the Tour of Memory.

TDF 2016 sees 28 climbs taking in four mountain ranges the Massif Central, Pyrenees, Alps and Jura with four summit finishes.

The Queen stage on Bastille Day will see the peloton race from Montpellier to Mont Ventoux to be greeted by a 22.7km climb.

The race finishes in Paris on July 24.
