Mexico City Hosts International Book Fair
  • 8 years ago
With over 700 publishers, the International Book Fair in Mexico City brings the love of reading to thousands of enthusiastic citizens in the course of a week. Even so, a government survey shows that the average Mexican citizen above 18 years old only reads four books a year. Some say that this is not due to a lack of interest, but to the high cost of books. The access to reading materials and culture as a whole may be even more restricted in the future, given that the federal government proposes to cut US$1.9 billion for funding culture in 2016.
