Ecuador: Ecuador Urges Britain to Grant Safe Passage for Assange
  • 9 years ago
Ecuador has requested that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange be allowed safe passage on humanitarian grounds out of the country’s London Embassy to a hospital for a medical examination. Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño said it was necessary so that Assange, who has been living in the embassy for 14 months, could get an MRI scan to investigate pain in his shoulder. Nevertheless, Patiño said that if he left the building for medical attention at the moment, he would almost certainly be arrested, as the British government has said on numerous occasions that it would be obliged to do. teleSUR
