CBI Moves SC To Arrest Virbhadra Singh

In what could probably spell more trouble for Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved the Supreme Court against Singh, asking for the waiver of High Court order granting protection from arrest and other reliefs to him. The CBI has also sought the transfer of the case out of the state. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear CBI’s plea on reopening of the court after the Dussehra break. The agency has been conducting a preliminary enquiry against Singh, his wife Pratibha Singh, his son Vikramaditya Singh, his daughter Aparajita Singh and a LIC agent Anand Chauhan to probe disproportionate assets acquired by the family. Last month, CBI had carried out raids in 11 places, including Singh’s Delhiand Himachal residence, in connection with the case.
