Brazil: Rousseff Defiant Against Impeachment Attempt
  • 9 years ago
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff characterized opposition threats to impeach her as being a "soft coup" aimed at taking power. The speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Eduardo Cunhal delayed adopting a decision on impeaching Rousseff, which if approved by a 2/3 vote of the lawmakers, would be considered by a multi-party committee whose decision would then go to the Senate, which would launch an impeachment trial. teleSUR
