Syria: Russian Military Intervention Changes Game

The Russian move into Syria has been a game-changer for the conflict as accusations fly that Western forces are trying to play down and even sabotage their efforts. The UN envoy, Staffan de Mistura, on Monday called on Moscow and Washington for urgent agreement on Syria. At the same time the United States announced that it will no longer be funding a program to train the Syrian opposition. Many observers believe that this move came after the failure of the U.S. coalition forces to achieve any results on the ground.
