Colombia: Patriotic Union Takes to the Streets

Colombia's Patriotic Union (UP), a broad front of left-wing and progressive social organizations, demonstrated in Bogota yesterday in favor of a peace settlement based on social justice. Of particular importance for the UP and other social movements is the agreement on transitional justice, in order to determine exactly what transpired during the five-decade armed conflict in terms of repression and victims and to assign responsibilities, so that such bloodletting does not occur again.
