U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron Sets Out Priorities for Second Term

U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron set out his priorities for his second term in office, including redrawing Britain's relationship with the European Union, tackling Muslim extremism and achieving a budget surplus.
Speaking Wednesday at his Conservative Party's first annual autumn conference since winning an unexpected parliamentary majority in national elections in May, Mr. Cameron also pledged to tackle Britain's social problems in an apparent play for the political center-ground after the opposition Labour Party recently tacked left under a new leader.
The prime minister said Europe was "too interfering" but also noted the economic benefits it provides the U.K. as the biggest single market in the world.
A key plank of Mr. Cameron's electoral platform was to secure concessions from Brussels on Britain's relationship with the European Union and hold a referendum by the end of 2017 on whether the U.K. should exit.
Mr. Cameron said he had "no romantic attachment to the EU and its institutions" but vowed to "get stuck in" and "fix problems" rather than walk away.
