Honduras: Little Chance of Changing Health Policies Affecting Women
  • 9 years ago
The Center for Women’s Rights has reported that in Honduras there are between 50,000 and 80,000 abortions performed annually, all illegally and in life-threatening conditions. There is no sex education in the public school system. Many birth control pills are prohibited, and sexual violence against women is among the highest in the region, with one woman murdered every 24 hours. In Honduras, 60 percent of all pregnancies are women under 22 years old, many of whom are minors. There are very low possibilities for changes in health policies.
