A recent report by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, or IUCN, has found that 31 percent of cactus species face extinction, making this category one of the most threatened in nature.

Human behavior is threatening the existence of an unlikely plant--the cactus. 

A recent study conducted by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, or IUCN, has found that 31 percent of cactus species are endangered, making this category, according to the press release, “more threatened than mammals and birds.” 

The scientists involved were reportedly shocked at the results, as they did not expect such high levels of impending depletion.
