Argentina: 1st Election Debate Held Without Front Runner

The first debate ahead of the October 25 Argentine presidential elections was held yesterday. Front runner Daniel Scioli of the ruling Front for Victory Party did not participate, arguing that the aggressive tone of the debate was not what voters want. The other five candidates used Scioli's absence to attack him as a puppet for President Cristina Fernandez and to avoid debating economic policy proposals. teleSUR
