Colombia Questions Int'l Courts Jurisdiction in Dispute with Nicaragua
  • 9 years ago
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) of The Hague met on Monday to consider the maritime boundary dispute between Colombia and Nicaragua. The dispute dates back more than a century and was the subject of 11 years of deliberations in The Hague. Although the ICJ recognized Colombia's sovereignty over the San Andres Archipelago it gave Nicaragua an extensive maritime zone in the Caribbean. Managua is appealing parts of the ruling and in today's session Bogota rejected ICJ jurisdiction in the dispute. teleSUR
