A small hole was set to be filled in a cul-de-sac in St Albans, UK.
Now it's a 65-foot-wide sinkhole that's resulted in some residents being evacuated while others are cut off from utilities and transportation. 
Sinkholes can be caused by a variety of factors, and the area in question has a historic problem with them, though authorities note that they don't usually get so large.
