Chinese Genomics Institute To Sell Gene-Edited Micropigs As Pets
  • 9 years ago
BGI, a genomics institute in China, has created gene-edited pigs that never get larger than a medium-sized dog and will be selling them as pets.

Pigs seem like they'd make good pets while they're small, but as they grow flaws in that plan begin to emerge.

BGI, a genomics institute in China, may be onto a solution.

They have created gene-edited pigs that never get larger than a medium-sized dog, which they announced on September 23rd will be sold as domestic companions for people.

The miniaturized animals were initially developed for testing purposes.
