United States: Pope Decries War, Poverty and Discrimination
  • 9 years ago
On the second day of his visit to Washington DC, Pope Francis called for an end to war, poverty and discrimination in his speech to Congress. Outside the Capitol, hundreds gathered to support his message of environmental awareness. Afterwards, the Pope attended a lunch organized by Catholic charities for DC’s homeless community. As the Pope boarded the plane for New York City, he took leave of Secretary of State John Kerry with his habitual request: “Pray for me.” Bianca Perez reports from Washington DC for teleSUR
