The Patriotic Union Party has expressed doubts about the Colombian government’s commitment to comply with peace agreements. Although members hope that the peace process will bring guarantees against the paramilitary and violence that they have experienced in the past, they note that such violence and death threats are still a reality. Former guerrillas of the ELN agree that guarantees of political participation and the disarming of paramilitary groups are absolutely necessary to prevent further massacres.
