Charlotte Brontë was the eldest of the Brontë sisters, three siblings whose novels--Charlotte’s Jane Eyre, Emily's Wuthering Heights, and Anne's The Tenant of Wildfell Halls, to name but three--are now considered classics. In 1848, Emily died from tuberculosis; she was just 30 years old. A few days after her death, Charlotte wrote to her publisher.

Louise Brealey is an actor, journalist, playwright and producer, best known for her role as pathologist Molly Hooper in Sherlock. In 2015 she can be seen on the big screen in indie thriller Containment, as the new regular in Ripper Street on BBC One and with Stephen Mangan in Sky Arts' Birthday. Theatre highlights include Julie in Miss Julie at the Citizens Theatre, Sonya in Uncle Vanya for Peter Hall, and Andromache, Cassandra and Helen of Troy in The Trojan Women at the Gate. She has recently been seen on stage in the UK tour of the Royal Court's Constellations.

Inspired by Shaun Usher's Letters of Note, Letters Live is an initiative by publishing company Canongate and Benedict Cumberbatch’s production company SunnyMarch.
