Bolivia: Thousands Want Evo Morales to Stay On as President
  • 9 years ago
Support is growing in Bolivia for modifying the Constitution to allow President Evo Morales to run for a fourth term in office in the year 2020. A recent poll showed that 54 % of the people are in favor of the measure. A carnival-like atmosphere in a large march on Friday raised hopes that Congress will approve a bill to pave the way for this major Constitutional reform. If it is passed it will then be put to a referendum, and if approved, will go on to the National Assembly for final approval. The opposition says, however, that Morales should first solve the country’s economic problems. Dimitri O’Donnell reports from La Paz for teleSUR.
