Cat survives fall from building in Rio

Dramatic footage has emerged of the moment a cat ran rings around rescue workers who were trying to help it down from the side of a tall building near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The video, captured by local resident Andréa Lima earlier this month, shows the cat walking straight up the wall and running around it while emergency services dangle trying to grab it.

The cat can then be seen falling before landing on an air conditioning unit, then falling towards the ground as the rescuer grapples with it.

Just before impact two workers with a blanket run to catch it - with the cat bouncing off them on the way down and landing on its feet - appearing to run off entirely unharmed and unbothered.

The incident took place at the Edifício Residencial Boulevard building in the Vila isabel area.
