The right wing is weak in artistic terms. Opportunities should be provided for art to grow in all areas

ADNAN OKTAR: The demand for democracy is excellent, no matter who demands it. I do admire the leftists for instance, in that respect; democracy, freedom, women’s rights, peace; but it never goes any further than words. But it is still very nice of them, even if it goes not any further than that. That is because the rightist parties indeed do not have any intention towards democracy as of old. That has how it has always been in Turkey to my knowledge; they are not that keen. They plunk down money and do this and do that, etc. There are not that many artists among them either. The right has always been like that. Yet the right should be adopting a really good policy towards the arts, in painting, music, sculpture and everything. Taking a couple of artists to dinner every now and then is not enough. You must put artists on salaries, encourage them [in their endeavors] and give them medals if necessary.
